What this policy covers

Cookies are small values stored by a browser and sent with relevant requests. Local storage can remember a choice without being sent on every request. This policy uses “browser storage” for both and explains what the ciphers™ website uses.

Necessary storage

The public website stores your analytics choice locally so the consent prompt does not appear on every page. The preference remains until you clear browser storage or a material notice change requires a fresh choice.

Restricted staff areas use secure authentication and security cookies required to sign authorised users in, maintain a session, and protect access. These are not used for advertising.

Optional audience analytics

If you select “Accept analytics”, Google Analytics may measure pages visited, interactions, referring pages, session information, broad device and browser details, approximate geography, and a pseudonymous browser identifier. This helps us understand how the public website is used.

The usual analytics cookies are _ga, used to distinguish browsers, and _ga_<container-id>, used to maintain session state. Their default duration can be up to two years, subject to browser limits and analytics settings. We disable advertising storage, advertising personalisation, and Google signals in our implementation.

Analytics does not load from this website before consent. If you reject or later withdraw consent, analytics remains disabled and identifiable analytics cookies are removed where the browser allows.

Your controls

“Accept analytics” and “Reject analytics” are presented as equivalent choices. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer at any time to change your selection.

You can also block or remove storage through browser settings. Clearing storage may reset your choice or sign an authorised staff user out of a restricted area. Rejecting optional analytics does not prevent normal use of the public website.

Advertising and Do Not Track

We do not use advertising cookies on this website. Browsers do not provide one consistently implemented Do Not Track standard, so we rely on the explicit controls above and keep optional analytics off until you accept it.

Changes

We may update this policy if browser-storage practices change. We will request a new choice where a material change affects optional processing.
